I’m in my early 40’s, and I fill lots of roles depending on the perspective: father, husband, artist, UI Designer, gamer, friend, etc.
Though I’ve doodled and cartooned all my life, I seriously settled in to improve my art in 2007. This blog is part of my self-teaching. I don’t speak as the last word or as an expert, but rather as someone who is looking at what other artists have done so I can figure out how to produce the images in my head.
My personal tastes run to realism and surrealism, often with fantasy or sci-fi themes. I have no patience for the Art vs. Illustration debate, or for the never-ending Definition of Art discussions. Frankly, I’d rather spend that time and energy drawing.
(By the way, I am not the same Scott McDaniel who has done art for DC. Maybe I’ll meet him some time. Or pick one of his pieces to analyze.)
